The arrival of a baby often marks a turning point in how a house is organized. In this project, that moment was the starting point for a broader reflection: how to design a home capable of adapting to life's changes? For this family, the goal wasn't to add more rooms, but to reorganize the space so that it could accommodate new routines as the child grows.

  • They approached the renovation with a clear idea: flexibility doesn't depend on having more square footage, but on how the spaces connect. Instead of each room having a fixed function, they sought to create a house where different activities could coexist naturally. Cooking, working, playing, or meeting with friends no longer happens in isolated rooms, but in interconnected spaces that adapt to the needs of the day.

The kitchen opens onto the living room so that cooking doesn't mean being isolated from the rest of the house. From there, you maintain visual contact with the main area, which is especially useful when there's a baby or young children at home.

Rather than removing walls for aesthetic reasons, the work focused on how the spaces are actually used. The circulation patterns within the home were reviewed to prevent movement through the areas where the main activities take place. In this way, the central area can adapt to different times of day: in the morning it can be a space for breakfast or occasional work, during the day a play area, and in the evening it can function again as a dining room or gathering place.

Today, the house exudes a sense of calm. Built-in wardrobes in the various rooms, finished in a range of colors in Argil and Roto LACQUERS, help to organize the space and create a sense of continuity. Reading plays an important role in their daily lives, and the design reflects this: pathways are gentle, spaces open up without being jarring, and the light highlights the blend of cherry wood with the neutral tones that run throughout the home.
