This project is a renovation of a spectacular flat overlooking the Retiro in Madrid. The renovation consisted of updating this classic flat with high ceilings, mouldings, and natural wood floors without the need for a major refurbishment or change of layout as the flat is rented.

Bárbara Lennie, Goya award-winning actress in 2014, and her family are the tenants of this apartment. The typical distribution of an old flat in the capital, located the kitchen at the back of the house with few windows overlooking the inner courtyard. Barbara and her family do a lot of living in the kitchen so they wanted to make a functional, comfortable, and multipurpose design.

The proposed design makes the most of the light and maximises the space. A line of base units extends from the window. Here is located the hob and sink where they can cook with plenty of natural light during daylight hours. This front is complemented by a wall unit that hides the extractor hood and shelves to increase storage capacity. On the opposite side, a niche unit with a large storage capacity was designed. This solution offers a comfortable space for storing and hiding everyday objects but also allows for decorative items.

For the finishes, a bold design and play with colour was considered. However, with only one light source and limited space, they opted for a light LACQUERED Roto color complemented with a warm touch of WOOD Cherry.
