From high above the center of Madrid, this small 60-square-meter penthouse opens onto a shared terrace that completely transforms the experience of living in the city. The open doors, the conversations with neighbors, and the light pouring in at all hours make it feel more like a suspended village than a traditional urban dwelling.

The challenge was obvious: much of the surface area was under a sloping roof, which influenced every decision. Not everything could go anywhere. Therefore, the most convenient areas—the kitchen and bathroom—occupied the center of the space. Instead of avoiding them, they became the starting point. Around them, the rest of the house was organized with a clear logic: open, connect, and allow everything to flow naturally.

The original wooden beams were kept, not only for practical reasons—to gain height—but because their presence alone was sufficient. The previous partitioning was also eliminated, so that the different areas could coexist without the need for doors or defined boundaries. The house is designed for a couple, but with room to receive guests, share a meal, or step out onto the terrace without interrupting the daily routine.

The kitchen, finished in humo LACQUER and Graphite LAMINATE, is much more than a place to cook. It's a piece of furniture, integrated into the overall look, functional and serene. The island was, for weeks, a topic of debate among friends and family. It meant giving up a large table, but it ended up being the best decision: today it's used for everything and has become a true meeting point.
