An open and connected design for family life
Located in Madrid, this 67 m² home has been transformed to adapt to the needs of its owner, a French journalist, and her two children. Originally a simple 1960s construction, the apartment had not been renovated since then, which posed several challenges for its update.
The main objective was to create a more open and functional space, in line with a modern lifestyle. One of the biggest challenges was integrating the living room and kitchen into a common space, despite the presence of a load-bearing wall that limited the expansion of an existing space. Furthermore, work was done to minimize the long, narrow hallway that ran through the home, optimizing its layout to generate a greater sense of fluidity.
The kitchen has become the center of the renovation project. It is a space connected to all the rooms in the house, designed not only as a place to cook, but also as an area where you can socialize, read, or simply relax. In this space, the Roto LACA finish has been used together with the Plantea Sable handle to create a continuous and monochromatic effect, bringing a sense of unity and sophistication to the kitchen. The textures and colors chosen are soft and welcoming, providing a feminine and warm touch to the whole, without losing its simplicity and functionality.
Since most of the rooms, except the living room, have views of an interior patio, the predominant use of neutral tones, mainly white, was chosen to reflect and maximize natural light, creating a bright and serene atmosphere throughout the space.
In the bedrooms, wardrobes with a White LACA finish and SQUARE handles have been used, achieving perfect integration with the architecture of each room. These cabinets blend visually with the walls, providing a visual continuity that enhances the simplicity and order in each room.
This project stands out for its adaptation of a traditional space to the demands of modern life, creating an open, functional, and light-filled home, designed for those who will live in it.
