Kitchens - WOOD Oak

Balance between design and functionality in La Rochelle

In La Rochelle, France, a beach house, a second home for a family with two young children, has undergone a major renovation. The owner, also an architect, decided to begin a renovation after five years of living in the home.

The main problem was the kitchen, previously located in a closed, dark space, isolated from the rest of the house. To solve this problem, it was decided to relocate the kitchen to the living room, providing natural light, space, and fluidity to the room.

With the kitchen now in the living room, the most used spaces are united, facilitating family coexistence. The new, brighter and more open kitchen space brings freshness and functionality to the home.

The finishes chosen for the kitchen reflect the attention to detail and the aesthetic desired by the family. They opted for WOOD Oak with a ROUND handle, which provides warmth and elegance. Complemented by the Sable laminate on the handleless wall units, a minimalist and refined design is created.

The U-shaped kitchen includes three columns of wall units that house a pantry and the refrigerator. The two rows of base units are arranged along the wall, dedicated to the work and storage area. In addition, the peninsula, open to the living room, offers ample space for cooking and storage.

This renovation has allowed the family to enjoy a renovated space that balances contemporary design with the functionality necessary for everyday life. The union of the kitchen and living room facilitates family interaction, while filling the house with natural light, creating a perfect retreat for holidays and weekends.
