On the outskirts of Madrid, in the old town of San Sebastián de los Reyes, María found what she had been searching for: an old house, steeped in history, with a patio where her son could play in the sun. Faced with the idea of moving to an apartment in the city center, they chose to renovate this detached house, which, after a complete transformation, has become a place where life moves at a slower pace, and every room reflects a family-friendly and bright atmosphere.

  • The house is organized over two floors and opens onto a 50 m² patio that acts as the heart of the home. The renovation process wasn't easy, but it was full of deliberate decisions. The original layout gave way to a new organization that allows the spaces to connect without losing their individual character. The kitchen, dining room, and living room don't form a single open space, but rather interact with each other through openings, doors, and short hallways that allow light to flow in without sacrificing privacy.

Beyond its architecture, this house tells other stories. Like that of the antique hydraulic tiles, rescued from her great-grandmother's house and preserved for years by her grandmother in the hope that someone would reinstall them. Now, these unique pieces cover the kitchen, blending seamlessly into a palette of materials that mixes clay, wood, and ceramic with a contemporary aesthetic.

In this desire to breathe new life into what was inherited, the kitchen occupies a special place. Designed in WOOD Oak, it embraces a calm, warm, and practical aesthetic. The peninsula invites you to linger, to share, to create life around it. And the entire space breathes in harmony thanks to the connection with the hydraulic tile flooring recovered from her great-grandmother's house, which now finds new meaning in a fresh light.

This is a house where the outdoors is part of the daily routine, where every corner has a function and a memory, and where design serves everyday life. A house that transports you to summer even when you're in the city.
