Kitchens - WOOD Oak

Between patios and memories: a house for family living

On the outskirts of Madrid, in the old town of San Sebastián de los Reyes, María found what she'd been looking for for a long time: an old house steeped in history and with a patio where her son could play in the sun. Rather than moving to an apartment in the city center, they decided to renovate this single-family home, which, after a complete makeover, has become a place where life takes a more leisurely pace, and each room reflects a familiar, luminous rhythm.

The house is arranged over two floors and opens onto a 50 m² patio that acts as the heart of the home. The renovation process was not easy, but it was filled with conscious decisions. The original layout gave way to a new organization that allows the spaces to connect without losing their identity. The kitchen, dining room, and living room do not form a single space, but they interact with each other through openings, doors, and short hallways that let in light without sacrificing privacy.

Beyond the architectural details, this house tells other stories. Like the story of the antique hydraulic tile floors, rescued from her great-grandmother's house and preserved for years by her grandmother in the hope that someone would reinstall them. Now, these unique pieces cover the kitchen, blending naturally into a material palette that blends clay, wood, and ceramics with a contemporary style.

In this desire to breathe new life into what was inherited, the kitchen occupies a special place. Designed in WOOD Oak, it embraces a calm, warm, and practical aesthetic. The peninsula invites you to linger, to share, to live life around it. And the entire space breathes balance thanks to the connection with the hydraulic floor recovered from her great-grandmother's house, which today makes sense in a new light.

This is a house where the outdoors is part of the routine, where every corner has a purpose and a memory, and where design serves everyday life. A house that transports you to summer even when you're in the city.
