Kitchens, Bathrooms and Closets - Blanco LACQUER, Oak WOOD

Light, order, and calm on the outskirts of Madrid

On the outskirts of Madrid, a family decided to change their daily routine. They left urban life behind to settle into an apartment surrounded by nature, in an environment that allowed them to breathe more calmly. The space had potential, but also certain challenges: the kitchen was isolated and poorly lit; the other rooms were barely used and were small and nonfunctional. The challenge was ambitious: to completely redesign the layout and create a functional, warm, and bright home that would meet the pace of a family with a young child.

The renovation reorganized the heart of the home. The kitchen was moved to the center, connecting with the living and dining rooms, and oriented toward the outdoors to take advantage of the views. An island serves as the lynchpin for the space: cooking, serving, and conversation are all available from it. An entryway bench was also designed, forming part of the same volume, as was a bar corner, all integrated into the space.

The Blanco LACQUER fronts provide clarity, pairing with an Oak countertop, which adds texture and warmth. This countertop, although less common due to its maintenance requirements, was a personal choice: the family wanted a natural material that would age with them.

Following the same line of storage and organization, a sequence of tall wardroves in WOOD Oak discreetly runs through the hallway, providing visual continuity and reinforcing the warmth of the whole. The master bathroom uses the same finishes as the kitchen and cabinets, reinforcing the material coherence. Everything responds to a common goal: to create a fluid, functional home without visual disturbances.

During the construction, an unexpected surprise emerged: a metal structure was exposed and, far from concealing it, was painted a deep blue and integrated into one of the project's most distinctive features. Thus, what would have been an obstacle at one time became a defining characteristic.

Every decision in this renovation is based on a clear premise: maximize natural light and create versatile spaces. It's a house that doesn't seek to appear more than it is, but rather to live better.
