A young couple who needed to work from home longed for a spacious and functional space. Their desire was to transform their compact 42m2 apartment into a work studio and a cozy living space.
The couple wanted to merge the kitchen, dining room, and living room to create a single, open-plan space in which to work, dine, and do other activities.
At the same time, they sought to preserve some of the original details and harmonize them with the new materials and finishes. The original Catalan vaults in the ceiling were maintained, and neutral finishes were chosen to let them take center stage. To create a multifunctional space, the kitchen and dining room were located in the central room of the apartment, which connects to the rest of the rooms, allowing for the creation of an optimal and functional work area.
The finishes were carefully selected. The Fes LAMINATE, in a striking blue color, breathes new life into the space, while the SQUARE handles perfectly complement the color of the wood flooring. The porcelain countertop adds a touch of sophistication and modernity to the design.
The kitchen was designed in an L-shape, with wall units on one side and base units on the other. This layout maximizes the space and provides an open-plan space where natural light perfectly illuminates the workspace.
The renovation has given the couple the functional and stylish space they desired. The apartment, despite its size, has demonstrated that with a smart layout and an appropriate selection of materials, it can be converted into an effective workspace and a welcoming place.
