Rehabilitating an old house with rustic essence

This project involved the renovation of an old house located in the fishing district of Valencia, El Cabanyal. The main objective was to preserve the original elements and materials of the house to add value to the project and generate a rustic and warm atmosphere.

The house is divided into two floors that differentiate the daytime and nighttime areas of the house. The ground floor, where the common areas are located, is completely open-plan, containing the living room, dining room, kitchen, and a small office area. It also has a small interior patio for enjoying the outdoors, perfect for unwinding and relaxing. On the first floor, the night area consists of two bedrooms and a bathroom. These rooms are designed to be versatile and adapt to the needs of whoever uses them, functioning as multifunctional spaces.

The project features elements that break with tradition, such as the finishes in the different rooms of the house, including the kitchen and study. The kitchen's white laminate finish balances the room's color, highlighting details like the hydraulic tile floors. The Sahara laminate finish appears on the countertop and blends harmoniously with the study table next to the kitchen, creating continuity within the space. The bathroom, with its colorful wall, contrasts with the furniture, also in a Sahara laminate finish.

It is a unique home that preserves its brick walls and beams, crafted using traditional methods. The hydraulic tile floors enhance the original design of the space, giving the home authentic value while maintaining a traditional feel.

The final result is born from an understanding of the original material value of the home combined with the need to inhabit spaces today. An exercise in recycling and reusing the environment, materials, and spaces has been carried out to create something completely new, adapting the home to a new way of life.
