In the heart of Lyon, a 70 m² apartment has been completely renovated to become a residence with clean lines, a sculptural atmosphere, and a scenic character. The project, carried out by designer Matthieu Coin in collaboration with interior designer Jeanne Patoz, responds to a dual ambition: to create a versatile home that serves as a domestic space, but also as a setting for audiovisual and editorial productions.

The apartment started with a traditional, compartmentalized layout, without any major features, but with a bright orientation and a potential architectural envelope. The complete renovation allowed for a complete redesign of the home, freeing up space and establishing new connections between rooms. The central idea was to work with expressive materials that would provide texture, reflect light, and create a warm, understated, and distinctive atmosphere.

Okoumé wood became the project's guiding principle, used in large areas as cladding and in custom storage solutions. Its pinkish hue and uniform grain are balanced by the exposed concrete of the original floor. This restrained palette allows the furniture, a carefully selected selection of Italian and Scandinavian pieces from the 1950s to the 1970s, to seamlessly connect with the interior architecture.

The kitchen, in Comodoro LAMINATE, combines with the okoumé and is part of a composition that prioritizes visual order and functionality. The layout adapts to everyday use, but also to the technical needs of a space that can easily be converted into a film or photography set.

This project demonstrates how a single space can serve multiple functions without losing coherence. The home is warm, functional, and easy to live in, yet also has the visual power to become a stage where design takes center stage. The collaboration between design, interior design, and custom manufacturing has resulted in a unique apartment that reflects a contemporary way of living, working, and creating.
