Kitchens - LAMINATE Perle, WOOD Oak
Transforming a penthouse in Berlin
In Schöneberg, Berlin, a young couple set out to transform their 120m2 penthouse, seeking a renovation that combined functionality with subtle pops of color, particularly focusing on the kitchen to make it the focal point of their space. Passionate about art and wanting to take advantage of the natural light that flooded their home, they faced several challenges, including how to create a light and airy environment that also offered ample storage solutions without compromising aesthetics, and how to refinish the solid wood flooring to maintain its charm and durability.
To address these challenges, they opted for a layout that divided the space into two levels, locating the living areas on the ground floor and removing partitions to allow natural light to flow freely, creating a sense of spaciousness and continuity. The kitchen was designed in an L-shape with a central island, conceived not only as a cooking space but also as a place to gather, facilitating interaction and becoming a central point for socializing.
The choice of materials and finishes played a crucial role in the realization of this project. A Perle laminate was selected for the kitchen cabinets, complemented by round handles and wood oak fronts, bringing a natural warmth and elegance to the space. The porcelain countertop was chosen in neutral white, and for a pop of color, pink was used on the countertop. Island storage was maximized using drawers, and a bar with stools was included, perfect for enjoying quick meals or as additional space during meetings.
This project illustrates how, through careful planning and detailed material selection, a space can be created that balances functionality with personal style.
