Kitchens - Blanco and Caraibi LAMINATE

A design challenge in 4 meters

In Barcelona, one unique house stands out: "The Narrow House." This structure, belonging to the traditional "cases de cos" style, is the home of a mother and daughter, and its design poses a challenge due to its limited space.

At just four meters wide, the home required innovative solutions to ensure comfortable and private spaces for both residents, while also breaking up any potential feeling of confinement.

The solution was to adopt a vertical layout. The ground floor was assigned to the mother, providing easy access to both the street and the interior courtyard. The upper floors were dedicated to the daughter, unifying essential spaces such as the kitchen, living room, dining room, and bedroom on a single level. Additionally, an additional space was created on the top floor to serve as a guest room and yoga space.

To maximize space and create spaciousness, vertical circulations were integrated on different levels and open spaces were chosen, where variations in ceiling height defined the areas and their functions. A notable architectural detail is the Catalan vault on the ceiling, which adds a distinctive and local character.

As for the kitchen layout, its linear design is conceived for individual use. The choice of materials, such as Blanco LAMINATE and Caraibi LAMINATE, reflects the simplicity and authenticity of the design, highlighting details such as the edges of doors and panels.

"La Casa Estrecha" is the result of innovation and thoughtful design. Despite its limited space, this renovation has managed to offer its owners a warm, functional home with a modern touch without losing its Catalan essence.
