How to design the perfect closet for you?

We've all been in similar situations: stacking sweaters and pants in a helter-skelter pile, storing shoes in an uncontrolled heap, compressing socks to trap them in a drawer... In hectic times, keeping your things organized, visible, and within reach can be considered a kind of physical and mental ecstasy. Nothing will bring you more peace than a pleasant glance at clothes perfectly aligned, clean, and ready for action. For this, you'll need functional, well-thought-out wardrobes with optimized capacity for the space you have available.

Yes: at CUBRO we also make wardrobes. As with kitchens, we also use IKEA structures. Their system is called PAX, and it allows you to design wardrobes for any space and need. Afterwards, we'll offer you our fronts to cover the doors with a high-quality, original, and unique design.

We'll tell you the keys to designing the wardrobe you're imagining.

Step 1: Choose the structures

The effectiveness of a closet, and that ability we've talked about to keep everything organized, will depend largely on the units you install and the measurements you choose for the different spaces. We don't want a miscalculation to wrinkle the hem of your trench coat due to a lack of height.

First, you'll need to measure your available space, from floor to ceiling and from wall to wall. The frames are available in the following heights: 201 cm and 236 cm.

However, be sure to leave an additional 1 cm of clearance at the top. This centimeter of clearance is necessary for installing the doors. It will also allow you to lift the cabinet while assembling it.

Available widths are 50 cm, 75 cm or 100 cm, and depths are 35 cm or 58 cm.

Step 2: Choose the fronts and handles

Once you've designed the structure of your wardrobe, it's time to think about how you envision it from the outside. Our catalog features a carefully selected range of materials and colors so you can customize your wardrobe down to the last detail.

Step 3: Choose the interior organization

Think carefully about what you'll be storing in your closet so you can add the right interior organizers. KOMPLEMENT accessories include practical items for drawers, shelves, shoe racks, jewelry trays, pull-out clothes racks, and much more.

We give you some general recommendations to keep in mind:

– Leave a space of about 30 centimeters high between each shelf.
– Set aside a height of about 60 centimeters to hang your pants (unless you store them folded, which is also fine).
– You'll need a height of 90 centimeters to hang your shirts and jackets. For longer dresses and coats, reserve 150 centimeters.
– Consider installing separate shoe racks. You'll gain space and convenience.
– Corner wardrobes with two hinged doors can only have one handle.
– Be careful when storing books or records: the shelves are not designed to support heavy weights.
– You'll also find wardrobes without doors, sliding drawers, doors with or without hinges, pull-out drawers... The options are almost endless, and it's up to you to configure the ideal space for your clothes.

Step 4: Choose interior lighting

Use lighting in your PAX wardrobe to add a finishing touch and better view your clothes. It's not a must, but it's one of those things that once you try it, you won't want to live without it. There are lighting options you can control with IKEA Home smart, as well as sensor lights that activate automatically when you open or close the door.

Step 5: Purchase the PAX Planner

Once you've measured and have a rough idea of what you want, you can narrow down your options in the PAX planning tool. There, you can see how the frames, doors, and lighting will look in a virtual room. You can add products to your shopping list to buy them in-store or add them to your shopping bag to purchase them online.

Something doesn't fit? Are the measurements you've taken not exactly the sum of the IKEA frames? Our designers are available to help you fine-tune your wardrobe design.
