A 64m² century-old apartment in Barcelona's Sants neighborhood was transformed from an obsolete and underutilized space into a bright refuge that fuses modernity and tradition.
Due to lack of maintenance, the apartment suffered from structural damage aggravated by time and an unfavorable layout. The apartment featured a long, purposeless hallway, rooms lacking natural light or ventilation, and one room accessed through another.
The redesign addressed these issues by keeping the bedrooms facing the street and positioning the living room on the interior facade. At the same time, an open-plan kitchen was integrated into the living room, creating a unified and functional space. Although the bathroom was kept in its original position, its surface area was slightly expanded.
The kitchen furniture, with a white laminate design, brings freshness to the space and contrasts with the historical elements, such as the Catalan vaulted ceiling and the partially recovered hydraulic mosaic.
Designed in a linear layout, this kitchen provides ample countertop space and optimizes storage, being the core of this renovated apartment.
This renovation has given new life to an apartment where the owners now delight in a bright and functional environment.
