Restoration of a historic house

Located in the charming village of Ollioules, in the South of France, this approximately 230 m² family home, including terraces, dates back to the 12th century. Home to the Long family for generations, the house was renovated to maintain its Provençal authenticity and adapt it to modern needs, while preserving its historic features.

Known as Maison Long, the house was restored in two phases: the first phase, called the Nougat Area, and the second phase, focusing on the section known as the Pointed Vaults Area. A meticulous renovation has been underway over the past ten years.

One of the biggest challenges was managing this project from abroad. The walls in the kitchen also needed to be re-aligned to achieve right angles, a significant challenge in a house of medieval origin. However, dedication to the project has overcome these obstacles and created a home that combines the best of its past with a contemporary approach.

The kitchen, designed with a white laminate finish, integrates seamlessly with the white vaulted walls, creating a harmonious and serene space. The wooden handles evoke the medieval floor tiles, providing a visual connection to the history of the house. Every detail has been carefully considered to reflect the connection between the simplicity of the materials and the richness of history.

This renovation has preserved the family legacy that has endured through generations. Every detail has been thoughtful to allow history and modernity to coexist harmoniously, creating a refuge full of character, where each space reflects the value of the past and the functionality of the present.
