In an architectural and design challenge, a 58m² apartment, typical of 1960s buildings, is transformed into a modern and functional space. This project, requested by the owner who sought to optimize the use of space without losing light.
The apartment, originally with small, compartmentalized rooms, required reconfiguration to add an additional bedroom. This challenge was addressed by creating a multifunctional bedroom/office in the living room area. To maintain a decent-sized living area, the living room, kitchen, and hallway were joined together, forming a unified, comfortable, and bright space.
A custom-made wooden piece of furniture became the central element of the design. This piece of furniture, which begins as a wardrobe in the entryway, successively transforms into a kitchen, dining bench, and TV stand, serving as a subtle divider between spaces.
The kitchen, with a U-shaped layout, harmoniously combines WOOD oak for the base units, COMODERO LAMINATE for the wall units, and ROTO LACQUER for the wall units. Its open design towards the living room facilitates interaction and comfort for both cooking and entertaining.
This renovation highlights architectural elements from the 1960s, such as checkered parquet and structural concrete, complemented by oak and touches of forest green. The owners are delighted with the result: a space that perfectly balances functionality with a modern and welcoming design, while maintaining the historic essence of the building.
