In this apartment near Retiro Park, the renovation began with a clear premise: to expand the common areas and increase natural light in a home whose original layout excessively divided the living spaces. The intervention reorganized the floor plan to create a new, more open social area, where the kitchen and living room share the spotlight.

  • The most decisive change was opening up the kitchen to the living room, an operation that not only improved the entry of natural light but also allowed for the creation of a space designed for gathering, sharing, and living without partitions. At the same time, a second full bathroom was added, which enhances the overall experience, both in terms of functionality and everyday comfort.

The materiality of the project reinforces this desire for openness. The WOOD Walnut facades add depth and warmth, becoming the visual focal point of the entire common area. In dialogue with them, the exposed concrete surfaces provide texture and a more raw, contemporary presence that is balanced by the warm grain of the wood.

A key design strategy was the use of mirrored surfaces, strategically placed to reflect both light and some of the project's premium materials. Beyond their optical function, these elements enhance the feeling of spaciousness without adding visual clutter, creating a more vibrant and luminous image of the home.

Seamlessly integrated into the living room, the kitchen responds to the logic of shared space: functional, clear, and full of character. The result is a more fluid, brighter apartment, better suited to modern lifestyles.
