On a hillside in the Sierra de Guadarrama mountains, The Grasshome presents itself as an alternative to conventional housing. Designed for a family, this experimental house proposes a new way of living, where the essential takes center stage: connection with the environment, spatial quality, and freedom of use.

  • Organized on two levels, The Grasshome responds to a steeply sloping site, which posed a key design challenge. The ground floor is partially buried in the terrain, providing stability. In contrast, the upper floor is built with a lighter structure, creating an open and flexible space. This structural duality results in a house that adapts to its surroundings without forcing them.

Everything revolves around a central axis, where the kitchen, finished in white lacquer with round handles, is articulated in an L-shape with an island that structures the space without interrupting its flow. The Mushroom linoleum countertop introduces a warm, matte texture that contrasts with the clean white, bringing balance and warmth to the overall design. Opposite the island, a cabinet system with the same finish as the kitchen reinforces the visual coherence of the space.

Designed to evolve with its inhabitants, The Grasshome doesn't impose a way of living, but rather adapts to it. Every element is designed to integrate seamlessly, contributing functionality, order, and visual lightness. Here, the limits are not defined by the architecture, but by the everyday choices of those who make it their own.
